More than 650 guests in elegant racewear welcomed spring racing in style at Flemington’s annual Myer Spring Fashion Lunch today.
Hosted by Channel 7’s Rebecca Maddern and Jason Richardson, the highly anticipated event was headlined by a Myer spring racewear parade showcasing the latest spring racing trends.
Myer Ambassador Rachael Finch walked the spring fashion lunch catwalk for the first time and was on hand to provide ladies with style advice ahead of the season’s first feature raceday at Flemington, Sofitel Girls’ Day Out, on Saturday.
The parade featured designs by Maticevski, Alex Perry, Yeojin Bae, Arthur Galan AG, White Suede, by johnny, Asilio, Cue, Marcs, Perri Cutten, Review, Karen Millen, David Lawrence, Dom Bagnato and M.J. Bale highlighting the season’s trends: in full bloom, new romantics, monochrome moment and jet set. Myer milliners featured included Viktoria Novak, Kerry Stanley, Kim Fletcher, Fiona Powell, Natalie Bikicki, Ann Shoebridge, Richard Nylon and Lisa Tan.
The lunch featured a special tribute to the late Bart Cummings from jockey John Marshall, who rode Cummings-trained Melbourne Cup winner Rogan Josh and Joe Agresta, who was Bart’s stable rider for more than three decades.
To celebrate 50 years since Jean Shrimpton made headlines at Flemington her friend and former top model Maggie Eckardt delighted the crowd with her recollections of the day. A replica of the dress that shocked a nation was also on show.
Rising soul sensation and former Channel 7’s The X Factor contestant Nathaniel had the crowd dancing in their seats throughout the event.
And recently announced Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador, and talented equestrian eventer, Georgia Connolly, made her first official appearance at the lunch.
Georgia will help judge the #MyerFOTF Spring Instagram competition, which was officially launched today.
The competition gives fashionistas Australia wide the opportunity to upload a photo of themselves in their finest racewear holding a Myer fan, tagging @FlemingtonVRC and @Myer along with #MyerFOTF to enter via Instagram.
The fans are available from selected Myer stores and to download from Myer’s website.
Five weekly winners will each receive a $500 Myer Gift Card and go into the draw to win the major prize: a money can’t buy experience at Crown Oaks Day including VIP tickets to Myer Fashions on the Field, accommodation at Sofitel Melbourne On Collins and private transfers.
